183rd Airman receives Security Forces award

Tech. Sgt. Nicholas A. Zellers of Springfield, Ill., received the 2013 Outstanding Air National Guard Security Forces Support Staff Noncommissioned Officer Award.

SPRINGFIELD, IL (01/28/2014)(readMedia)-- Tech. Sgt. Nicholas A. Zellers of Springfield, Ill., received the 2013 Outstanding Air National Guard Security Forces Support Staff Noncommissioned Officer Award.

"Selection of this award is such an outstanding accomplishment as there were 11,572 Security Forces Defenders eligible for selection of this award throughout 54 states and territories and Nick was number one," said Maj. James Robinson, 183rd Security Forces Squadron commander. "He earned this honor through his extremely hard work and exceptional dedication to duty."

Zellers enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard in February 2005 and is a member of the 183rd Security Forces Squadron in Springfield, Ill.

Zellers administers the 183rd Pass and Registration Office while additionally providing support to flight operations. Last year he provided oversight of the implementation of the Defense Biometrics Identification System, the Advantor Alarm System and the Contractor Access Program.

Zellers will now compete against each active duty major command.
