The 2007 GBC Build New York Award Winners

ALBANY, NY (11/29/2007)(readMedia)-- The 2007 winners of the Build New York Awards, the statewide construction industry awards program recognizing excellence in construction management, were honored at a gala awards presentation at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton on November 1, 2007.

Sponsored by the General Building Contractors of New York State (GBC), the Build New York Award winners are selected based on outstanding management skills, imagination, perseverance under unusual and challenging circumstances, safety excellence and innovative construction techniques by the contractor/manager and the entire project team.

Tom Eckert, chairman of the Build New York Awards Jury and President of MLB Construction Services LLC (Malta), presented the Lake Placid blue granite awards.

This year’s winners were:

Special Honoree – Renovation Project: William H. Lane Incorporated (Johnson City), for Lourdes Hospital Flood Reconstruction, Binghamton

Winner – New Project: Bette & Cring, LLC (Watertown), for The Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks – The Wild Center, Tupper Lake

Winner – New Project: E.W. Howell Co., Inc. (Woodbury), for Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton

Winner – New Project: Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. (Plattsburgh), for Plattsburgh International Airport Passenger Terminal Building, Plattsburgh

Winner – New Project: Plaza Construction Corporation (New York City), for Astoria Energy, Astoria, Queens

"Everyone involved in the conception and execution of a building project, large or small, public or private, takes pride in the skill, integrity and responsibility that go into bringing a project to a successful completion,” Jeffrey J. Zogg, Executive Director of the GBC, said. “This is what the Build New York Award program has come to mean and represent in the construction industry statewide," he added.

The General Building Contractors of New York State is the leading construction trade association in New York, and is the New York Building Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America. The GBC represents nearly 200 of the top construction firms in New York, and has over 300 members in total including general contractors, specialty contractors, and associate members.
