AGC NYS Announces Safety Awards

ALBANY, NY (06/11/2009)(readMedia)-- Several New York State general contractors have been presented Certificates of Commendation for Safety Excellence by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGCA). The names of the recipients were announced by the Associated General Contractors of New York State (AGC NYS), which is the New York State Chapter of the AGC. They include:

Callanan Industries, Inc. (Schenectady)

Carey Construction (Kingston)

Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. (Utica)

Granger Construction Co. Inc. (East Syracuse)

Lehigh Construction Group (Orchard Park)

MLB Construction Services (Malta)

Welliver McGuire Inc. (Montour Falls)

L.D. Wenger Construction Co. (Plainview)

Whitney East Incorporated (Rochester)

The Award is based on safety statistics required by OSHA. "Receipt of such an award is proof positive of the emphasis these contractors place on providing a safe and healthful workplace," said Jeff Zogg, CEO of AGC NYS.

The AGC NYS represents about 250 general contractors engaged in public and private construction throughout New York State. "The common denominator of our Membership," said Zogg, "is that they possess skill, integrity, and responsibility. A commitment to safety is a strong sign of these qualities." The AGC of America represents over 7000 general contractors nationwide.
