4 Buffalo-area National Guard Soldiers will represent New York at National marksmanship competition

BUFFALO, NY (07/20/2017) (readMedia)-- Four New York Army National Guard Soldiers from the 152nd Engineer Support Company, based at Buffalo's Connecticut Street Armory, will represent the New York National Guard at a National Guard-wide shooting competition in Arkansas July 23-27.

The Winston P. Wilson Championship is conducted annually at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Participants fire standard military rifles, pistols, and machine guns during a number of events designed to replicate combat.

The four Soldiers who will represent New York at this year's competition finished in first place during the New York National Guard's marksmanship competition at Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill, N.Y. which was held at the beginning of June.

Representing New York at the event will be:

• Staff Sgt. Michael Kapela, a Buffalo resident;

• Staff Sgt. Raphael Ramos, a Buffalo resident;

• 1st Lt. Christopher Tornabene, a Williamsville resident;

And Specialist Tyler Studd, a Media resident.

This year's Winston P. Wilson Championship will include Army and Air National Guard marksmanship teams from 51 of the 54 states and territories. A total of 456 marksmen will participate in the competition.
