ALBANY, NY (01/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Hoffman Warnick LLC (HW), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY, has released the Tech Valley Patent Indices for Fourth Quarter 2010. The "Tech Valley Patent Indices" include data for: the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley, Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.
In the fourth quarter, "the Tech Valley Patent Index was up again compared to last quarter, but more amazingly the Capital Region without GE set a new record high" stated Spencer Warnick, partner at Hoffman Warnick. Warnick added that: "it's really great to see the number of issued patents for the Capital Region tracking the national highs."
The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors. This quarter, the POQ is awarded to: US Patent No. 7841453 issued to Nancy Gold, Christian Timm and Inna Spektor for "luggage constraining apparatus and system." The patent issued November 30, 2010. The patent is assigned to Tough Traveler Inc. of Schenectady, which is a client of Hoffman Warnick.
