ACEC/PA statement on State Senator John Rafferty's introduction of transportation funding legislation

HARRISBURG, PA (04/16/2013)(readMedia)-- ACEC/PA Executive Vice President Eric G. Madden today issued the following statement on the introduction of new transportation funding legislation by State Senator John C. Rafferty, Jr. (R-44 Berks, Chester, Montgomery Counties).

"ACEC/PA applauds the leadership of Senator Rafferty. Repairing our deteriorating infrastructure is a critical issue that must be addressed now.

Building on the recommendations of the Transportation Funding Advisory Commission, and Governor Corbett, Senator Rafferty has brought to the citizens of Pennsylvanian a true long-term, comprehensive funding plan that enhances our safety, bolsters our economy and improves our overall quality of life. Businesses need to easily access their markets, farmers need to deliver their goods, emergency responders need to act quickly, people need to get to work and children need to get to school. None of this is possible without a safe and dependable transportation system.

We encourage the Governor and other members of the General Assembly to support this effort to bring more jobs and economic competitiveness to Pennsylvania from around the country and abroad."
