WHAT: | During the First World War, soldiers witnessed many new technological advancements for the military. Despite this new technology, the Army still relied on animals for transport, logistics, communication, protection and solace. Together soldiers and animals withstood extreme weather, disease, unrelenting enemy fire and gas attacks. Join us as the Illinois State Military Museum discusses the animals' role during The Great War, and unveil a new display celebrating the service and sacrifice of these unsung heroes. |
