SAVANNAH, GA (10/07/2011)(readMedia)-- Adam Johnson of Asheville, a third-year graphic design student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, has won GOOD Magazine's international design competition. Adam won with his tourists' guide to Asheville – "A Local's Guide to the Land of the Sky."
Designers were challenged to create a local's guide to their city. Entrants came from as far as the United Kingdom and Australia.
"I am very excited that my work has been recognized on a worldwide level," says the 20-year-old graduate of Asheville Christian Academy. "I set out to design something that I would not only be proud to put my name on, but that of the city I call home. Asheville has such a diverse culture and rich environment. To be a part of that sort of atmosphere has contributed to who I am as an individual. "
Adam's guide to Asheville boasts about "a thriving arts community, diverse outdoor adventures, a vibrant and inviting downtown, numerous historic and architectural attractions, and unique shopping options." It features a number of local businesses for food and fun, including Early Girl Eatery, 12 Bones, the Dripolator Coffeebar, Pritchard Park and The Orange Peel.
"Asheville is a place where many have been but few have really experienced," continues Adam. "This guide should help them navigate their way to a few local spots that will make them feel like they are proud Ashevillians."
