Adam Witmer of Keezletown Wins Gold Award in 2011 SCAD Challenge Film Competition

SAVANNAH, GA (09/27/2011)(readMedia)-- The Savannah College of Art and Design is pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 SCAD Challenge film competition. The competition provides high school and secondary students from around the world the opportunity to win an artistic scholarship to SCAD for their most imaginative live-action short film.

Wesley Sherwin of Cartersville, Ga., won the platinum award for his film "When I Close My Eyes."

Adam Witmer of Keezletown, Va., won the gold award for his film titled "Cycle of Four."

Adam Osiecki of Skaneateles, N.Y., won the silver award for his film "Burrulaa."

Requirements for winning films included originality, craftsmanship and creative use of technical tools. Filmmakers of all skill sets, from directors and editors to sound supervisors and scriptwriters, were encouraged to apply.

The three winners are offered scholarships to attend SCAD upon application and admission to the university. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year depending on the award and are renewable until completion of a bachelor's degree (225 attempted quarter hours), as long as the recipient maintains a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. SCAD Challenge scholarships may be added to any other artistic, academic and need-based scholarships for which students qualify.
