Alabama National Guard deploys aviation units

MONTGOMERY, AL (04/20/2018) (readMedia)-- The Alabama Army National Guard's B Company 1/169th Aviation Regiment, out of Birmingham, and Detachment 2, C Company, 1-111th Aviation Regiment (AA) have been called to active duty.

The units will have a departure ceremony in Anniston at the Fort McClellan Alabama Army National Guard Training Center Building #1333 at 3 p.m., April 22, 2018.

The approximately 90 Soldiers of the two units will perform various aviation operations missions for the U. S. Central Command area of responsibility. Both units will conduct some additional training at a mobilization station before deploying overseas.

Civilian officials, as well as senior Alabama National Guardsmen, will attend the ceremony to send off the Soldiers of B Company 1/169th Aviation Regiment and Detachment 2, C Company, 1-111th Aviation Regiment (AA). The general public is invited and encouraged to attend to show their support for the Soldiers and their families. The Alabama National Guard has called more than 25,000 personnel to active duty since 9/11 and remains a top contributor among the nation's National Guard organizations.
