Alabama National Guard major command gets new commanding general

FORT MCCLELLAN, ALA (01/09/2012)(readMedia)-- The Alabama Army National Guard's 167th Theater Sustainment Command, on the largest commands in the Alabama Guard, welcomed a new commander as Maj. Gen. Charles Gailes relinquished command to Brig. Gen. (P) Reynold Hoover Jan. 8, 2012.

"It's been an honor to serve with the Soldiers of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command," said Maj. Gen. Gailes as he thanked his troops for all of their hard work and persistence. He also thanked the families of the Soldiers for all of their support.

Gailes is now the commander of Joint-Task Force 51 in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Hoover took command of the 167th TSC following an assignment as commanding general, 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Birmingham, Ala.

"I look forward to the challenge of leading the 167th Theater Sustainment Command," said Hoover. "I know that with the help of the troops, we will be successful."

The event was hosted by Maj. Gen. Perry Smith, the Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard.
