Alabama National Guard to conduct road march in Decatur

MONTGOMERY, AL (04/13/2016)(readMedia)-- In order to improve the training and readiness of the 152nd Military Police Company, as well as to let the citizens of Decatur know their 152nd Military Police Company is back home in Decatur after a year-long renovation of the Decatur armory, the unit will be conducting a road march in the city. The Decatur Police Department will assist to mitigate and traffic impact.

The 152nd Military Police Company serves the citizens of Decatur, surrounding counties, and the state of Alabama. Additionally, this road march through the streets of Decatur will be dedicated to Pfc. Cody Wells of the 152nd, who recently lost his life in a vehicle accident.

When ordered by the governor, the 152nd Military Police Company will activate to support local and state police or other civil authorities during disasters and major events, as well as deploy in support of operations around the world. Most recently, the 152nd Military Police Company was called upon to support the local police and sheriff's department in Limestone Country in response to the tornado outbreak in April 2014 as well as a 2013 deployment in support of U.S. military overseas operations.
