ALBANY, NY (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Heather Wood, Baldwinsville resident and financial center manager for AmeriCU Credit Union, was named the 2012 Outstanding Young Professional by the Credit Union Association of New York at their 2012 Annual Meeting and Convention held recently at The Sagamore Resort on Lake George.

Outstanding Young Professionals are individuals age 35 and under whose commitment, hard work and achievements have enhanced their employer credit unions and/or the entire New York State credit union movement

"Heather's leadership, dedication to the credit union movement and commitment to growing as a professional embodies the spirit of the Outstanding Young Professional award," said the Association's President/CEO William J. Mellin.

Throughout 2011, Wood dedicated her time and energy to being an exceptional professional and member of the credit union movement. She participated in numerous projects at AmeriCU to help create new efficiencies and enhance member service, including platform updates and the creation of a member Switch Kit. She also completed dozens of professional development courses and helped plan and execute an awareness campaign focused on the refugee population in and around Upstate New York.

In addition to serving as financial center manager at AmeriCU Credit Union, Wood is currently the secretary of the Association's Young Professionals Commission (YPC).

Within her community, Wood served on the board of directors for the Armory Square Association, as co-chair of the American Heart Association's annual Heart Walk, as a committee member for the Erie Canal Museum's Annual Fundraising Gala and as a master coach for AmeriCU's annual CUNA Coaching Exchange for the Financial Center Managers.
