American Lung Association in Michigan is looking for challengers for the steps of Detroit Renaissance Center

It's more than a walk, it's more than a run...go vertical for a unique challenge!

DETROIT MI (02/24/2015)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association's eighth annual Fight For Air Climb Detroit. The Fight For Air Climb Detroit is a competitive stair climb held by the American Lung Association in Michigan. The event challenges participants to climb 70 Floors (1,085 stairs) or 40 Floors (585 stairs) of Michigan's tallest building, the Renaissance Center. More than 1600 participants and spectators are expected to race the Marriott Tower of the Renaissance Center. The event's goal is to raise $350,000 for lung disease research, advocacy and education.

The event will also host its annual Firefighter Challenge and First Responders Challenge. Firefighters will wear full gear weighing approximately 70 pounds during their vertical climb to the top of the Marriott Tower of the Renaissance Center.

Novice and expert athletes of all ages are welcome to participate as individuals or on a team. Race, walk and first responders registration options are available. Information can be found on www.ClimbDetroit.org.

WHAT:

The Fight For Air Climb Detroit is a stair climb challenge to help increase awareness and raise money for the American Lung Association’s fight against lung disease. Individuals and teams will climb to help fund lung health research, education and advocacy. When you register for the Fight For Air Climb, you are representing nearly 1 million people in Southeast Michigan who suffer from some form of lung disease.

Check-in starts at 7:30 am and the first steps are taken at 9 am.
