Andringa Family Supports The Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/02/2017) (readMedia)-- Des Moines, IA - Thanks to a generous contribution from the Andringa Family Foundation, the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation will continue its mission of preserving and improving the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds. The Andringa's $1 million gift will help renovate and restore the historic Fairgrounds that Iowans across the state enjoy.

Members of the Pella community, Dale and Mary Andringa have a love for the Iowa State Fair and a deep understanding of why Iowa agriculture is important. "The Fair represents an Iowa agriculture showcase as well as an event for the whole family that highlights new technology, educational opportunities, music and art," said Mary.

For their contribution, the Andringa Family Foundation Little Hands on the Farm will be dedicated on Tuesday, August 8 at 5:00 p.m. Little Hands on the Farm provides children ages 2 to 10 with an opportunity to actively participate in the workings of a kid sized farm operation. Dale and Mary are excited to see Little Hands on the Farm flourish in the future with additions that will continue educating children about all aspects of agriculture.

"The generosity Dale and Mary have shown will impact young Fairgoers for generations to come," said Peter Cownie, Executive Director of the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation. "We are grateful for the Andringa Family Foundation's efforts to restoring the Iowa State Fairgrounds."

The Blue Ribbon Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has generated more than $135 million for the renovation and preservation of the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds.
