DES MOINES, IA (08/09/2017) (readMedia)-- Jeremy Langner, principal at Waverly Shell Rock Middle School is the 2017 recipient of the Iowa State Education Association's TEAM Award.
Established in 1990, the ISEA's TEAM award stands for Together, Educators and Administrators Make it happen. The award is designed to honor a school administrator who has worked to create a collaborative, collegial working environment for all staff in a school building or district. Any school administrator, current or retired is eligible for the award.
Langner was nominated for the award by Allison Rasmussen, President of the Waverly Shell Rock Education Association. Other educators contributed to the nomination with words of praise and enthusiasm for his leadership, work ethic and particular detail to a respectful environment for all.
"It is clear that in his short time as principal Jeremy has already created a collegial and creative learning environment for educators and in turn, a supportive and learning environment for the students," said Tammy Wawro, President of ISEA. "At a time when respect and appreciation are oftentimes lacking, Jeremy's efforts are an outstanding example of how strong leadership is both effective and rewarding. He cares deeply about everyone in the building and has created an inspiring work environment. We applaud and celebrate Jeremy's leadership and look forward to many years of working with him," Wawro added.
Langner was presented with his award at the ISEA's Celebration of Excellence Awards Banquet on Monday, July 31 in Des Moines. More than 400 educators from across the state came together to attend the banquet and Summer Leadership Conference held on Tuesday, August 1.
