SPRINGFIELD, IL (09/16/2018) (readMedia)-- Chief Warrant Officer 4 Cameron Stanberry of Arenzville, Illinois, retired from the Illinois Army National Guard after more than 26 years of service during a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Camp Lincoln.
Stanberry enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in 1992 as a generator repairer with the 258th Quartermaster Company based in Beardstown, Illinois. His first major operation was Great Flood of 1993 response on the Mississippi River. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 to 2009 with the 634th Brigade Support Battalion, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
He was a member of the Illinois Army National Guard's Small Arms Readiness Training Team, which has won multiple national marksmanship competitions.
Stanberry is the recipient of numerous military medals including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, among others.
CW4 (ret.) Stanberry is married to Sara Rose Stanberry. They have three children; Alexandra, Benjamin and Samuel.
