Arilyan Steenblock named Iowan of the Day
DES MOINES, IA (08/01/2023) (readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are pleased to announce Arilyan Steenblock of Panora as an Iowan of the Day for the 2023 Iowa State Fair.
Arilyan is the definition of determination. Going into her junior year at Panora High School, she has already accomplished many big things for her young age. Arilyan did her part to help with an issue many young women encounter at some point, finding themselves in need of a feminine hygiene product but not having one on hand. To help solve this issue, she started "Blessing Boxes". These boxes are stocked in the girl's bathroom at school with different feminine hygiene products that someone may need. Between using some of her own money to keep these boxes stocked, and soliciting donations, Arilyan is determined to help with this on-going issue. She has even worked with state lawmakers and lobbied to get free hygiene products in all Iowa schools in an attempt to help more than her local community.
Although Arilyan stays pretty busy with this project, she doesn't let it stop her from being highly involved in other areas. Between her 73 hours of community service from 2021-present, volunteering for numerous non-profit organizations, a National Honor Society member, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team, FFA, track and field, basketball, softball and volleyball, all while maintaining a 3.922 GPA, she is nothing less than a high achiever.
Arilyan's day of recognition will be Thursday, August 10 at the 2023 Iowa State Fair. She will be recognized with a presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley stage at 12:00 PM. Along with accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, she will receive a gift bag, Grandstand Concert tickets, use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart, a cash prize, Iowa State Fair admission tickets, and VIP parking.
