Army National Guard Testing Fire Fighting System Over Hudson River Friday Morning

LATHAM, NY (02/15/2013)(readMedia)-- The New York Army National Guard will be testing a helicopter fire fighting system over the Hudson River north of Stillwater on Friday, Feb. 15.

The Firehawk system consists of a 1000-gallon tank and spray apparatus that fits beneath a Blackhawk helicopter and can be filled with a pump system and hose from a river or lake in 60 seconds. The helicopter landing gear is modified so that the tank can fit beneath it.

The test will occur between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Friday and is being conducted to insure that the system is operating correctly.
