Association of Fundraising Professionals Celebrate Local Philanthropic Leaders

DES MOINES, IA (11/06/2009)(readMedia)-- Please join the Central Iowa Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) as we honor the people and companies who are committed to making a difference in central Iowa on Friday, November 20th, 2009 at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. This year marks the twenty-fourth year the Chapter has participated in this national day of recognition, honoring philanthropists in communities throughout the United States.

The 2009 honorees include:

  • Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino - Outstanding Corporate/Foundation Philanthropists
  • James W. Hubbell, III - Outstanding Individual Philanthropists
  • Steven E. Zumbach - Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
  • Lorisha Martin - Outstanding Youth In Philanthropy
  • Suku Radia - Spirit of Philanthropy Award

The luncheon and awards are part of Philanthropy Day, a nationwide celebration of leaders, organizations, and youth who have made significant contributions to the quality of life in their communities by giving back.

Special thanks go to Hubbell Realty Company for sponsoring this year's Honoree Reception which will celebrate the 2009 Philanthropy Day Honorees, previous honorees, and friends. AFP would also like to thank the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines for their continued support of our honoree awards which are created by the Roosevelt High School Advanced Placement Art Program. Each honoree receives an award which has been created by a student in this program, who has been especially commissioned to create a unique work of art which embodying the spirit of philanthropy for their honoree.
