DES MOINES, IA (08/06/2010)(readMedia)-- Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) is hosting its 8th Annual Tango event Friday, August 20 at the Scottish Rite Consistory to raise funds for victims of domestic violence.

Guests will be dressing up for an evening out on the town that includes dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions. Auction items that you won't want to miss include: shopping trips in New York and Los Angeles, Carrie Underwood tickets, a hog roast party, sports paraphernalia, jewelry and accessories and many more! The cost to attend Tango is $86 per person which reflects the cost of one night of shelter and services provided by CFI's domestic violence services. All proceeds raised from this event go directly to help support victims of domestic violence.

Last year, CFI provided help and support to over 7,500 victims of domestic violence through hotline calls, safe nights at the shelter, counseling and support groups, transitional housing, advocates who can be there with the victims in a hospital or court setting and connecting them to community resources that can help them rebuild their lives.

"When victims leave their abusers, they often have little more than the clothes on their backs. By providing them with a safe place and connecting them to appropriate resources, they are on their way to becoming independent," says Susan Joynt, events manager. "Last year, Tango raised $182,000 that went directly to help victims."
