MARSEILLES, IL (01/28/2013)(readMedia)-- Lt. Col. Ron Jeanblanc of Athens took command of the 108th Special Troops Battalion (STB) in Chicago during a change of command ceremony Jan 25 at Marseilles Training Center in Marseilles.
Jeanblanc takes the reigns from Lt. Col. Matthew Voyles of Woodstock, who served as the 108th STB commander for the past two years. Voyles will go on to serve as the officer-in-charge of support operations with the 108th Sustainment Brigade in Chicago
Jeanblanc enlisted into the active Army in June 1986. He later joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 1989 and achieved the rank of sergeant first class before receiving his commission as second lieutenant in October 1997 through the Illinois Army National Guard's Officer Candidate School.
Jeanblanc has supported missions and operations in Germany and Hawaii and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009.
