SAVANNAH, GA (03/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Atlanta native Bradley Bowers, currently studying for his Master of Arts degree in furniture design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, is among the designers who have been selected to present their new, trendsetting designs at the prestigious furniture fair, Salone Internazionale del Mobile, April 17-22 in Milan, Italy.
"This is the beginning of my career, and to begin it on such a stage is daunting, exciting and altogether mesmerizing," said Bowers. "I want to make sure that this will be remembered as the moment that I arrived."
Bowers, a 2005 graduate of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, will show his unique tabletop vase "Om," crafted of paper and latex. He will also show "Mona," a multi-purpose tabletop vessel, and his innovative lounge, "Shell," which creates a sense of true balance when used.
Bowers received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design from SCAD and is currently a furniture, product and accessory designer, having interned at Ralph Lauren and Procter & Gamble, among others.
"I want to establish a studio and begin designing for clients that really want to differentiate themselves and show the world that American design is not all log cabins and La-Z-Boys," said Bowers. "I want to erase stereotypes and give the design world something to talk about!"
Bowers's designs will be shown in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile's exclusive SaloneSatellite, which was created to focus on young, talented designers under age 35 from around the world. Since its inception, the SaloneSatellite has served as a hub for manufacturers and talent scouts. Designs exhibited at the SaloneSatellite have been through a rigorous selection process and were chosen for inclusion by a committee of professionals from the fields of design, architecture and design media.
