ALBANY, NY (06/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to welcome award-winning marketing and communications professional Marquita Rhodes to their team. As the Marketing Manager, Rhodes will drive the marketing and communication efforts of the BID, promoting and increasing the visibility of the fifty block district in downtown Albany. Prior to joining the BID, Rhodes led a wide range of agency projects including: brand development, marketing and advertising strategy, industry and customer communications, website development and media relations at Allegory, an internationally recognized brand and communications firm based in Saratoga Springs, NY. Rhodes has also worked in New York and Italy managing community and housing programs for the U.S. Department of Defense.
"I'm excited about joining the BID and the opportunity to position downtown Albany as a strong presence within the state and region," expressed Marquita Rhodes, "My goal is to showcase the vibrancy of New York's capital city in a compelling and invigorating way that promotes interest among all our audiences."
In 2009 and again in 2011, Rhodes' work was recognized by ReBrand International as one of the top 100 brands in the world. Rebrand is the first and most respected recognition for repositioned brands globally. Her awards dossier also includes a Mark of Excellence from the American Marketing Association, a Marketing Communications Award from the Society of Marketing Service Professionals, and the Compass Award from Transportation Marketing and Communications Association.
An active participant in the community, Rhodes has offered her public relations and marketing skills to both the Saratoga Festival of Trees for the past five years and Soroptimist International of Saratoga County (SISC) for the past two years. She has been elected to the SISC 2011 – 2012 Board of Directors. Rhodes holds a Master's of Public Policy from Regent University and a BA from Sweet Briar College. She lives in Wilton, NY with her husband, Dustee Rhodes.
