Bid on Unique Carvings at the 2024 Woodcarvers' Auction

DES MOINES, IA (08/01/2024) (readMedia)-- With the sound of the chainsaws buzzing and the smell of sawdust hanging in the air, Fairgoers can enjoy the thrill of watching Gary Keenan, T.J. Jenkins, and Clint Henik use chainsaws to carve masterpieces out of wood at the Iowa State Fair. Don't miss out on the chance to bring one of these unique carvings home at the 2024 Woodcarvers' Auction hosted by the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation. The auction will be a hybrid event offering both silent online items and a live in-person auction.

The live portion of the auction will take place on Sunday, August 18, at 3:30 PM at the John and Emily Putney Family Cattle Barn's Penningroth Media Center. A selection of the carvings will be available for online bidding starting Saturday, August 17 at 10 AM and closing on Sunday, August 18 at 5:30 PM. Online items will be available for preview beginning Friday, August 16 at 10 AM. All proceeds benefit the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation's mission of renovating the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Fairgoers can come and watch the wooden creations come to life when Keenan and Jenkins carve four times throughout each day of the Fair, August 8 -18, at 10 AM, 12 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:30 PM, on Expo Hill. Past carvings include wildlife animals, sports team logos, and much more! Prepare to be amazed as you watch these skilled woodcarvers in action.
