SAVANNAH, GA (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- 20-year-old James Edwards, 2011 graduate of North Broward Preparatory School and currently a performing arts student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, has been cast in the new film, "CBGB," currently filming in Savannah, GA.

"I'm incredibly excited, anxious and absolutely honored to be a part of this film," said James. "To be along side actors that I look up to is unreal and terrifyingly awesome! This is the start of big things."

"CBGB" chronicles the famous Bowery music venue from its origins as Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock 'n roll and punk and home to performers like Patti Smith, Blondie, The Ramones, The Talking Heads and Television.

James plays a denizen of the iconic nightclub -- a crazed fan obsessed with Richard Lloyd of the punk band Television who runs into his idol in CBGB one night.

James joins a cast that includes Alan Rickman ("Harry Potter," "Sweeney Todd"), Rupert Grint ("Harry Potter"), Joel David Moore ("Avatar"), Ashley Greene ("Twilight") and Johnny Galecki ("The Big Bang Theory").

James passion for acting took off when he attended North Broward Prep. "It was always hard to keep me from not performing," said James. "I've been dressing up in costumes 5 times a day since I was 4. However, I really took off when I moved to Boca Raton where I had a very rewarding theatre experience with some wonderful directors. In high school, I played the leads in Amadeus, Scapino! and Into the Woods and I received Best Featured Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards."

"I did a student film in high school, but this is my feature film debut. I'm so excited. Look out world, here I come."

"CBGB" is scheduled for release in 2013.
