ALBANY, NY (02/25/2013)(readMedia)-- Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York is hosting "ToGetHerThere - Inspired by a Proud Past to Build the Leaders of the Next Century" inviting girls (recommended grades 6 and older) and adults to participate in a spirited discussion with five prominent women – all Girl Scout Alumnae - in the fields of politics, media, journalism, science & public relations on the following questions: 1. What challenges have women faced in their climbs to success? and 2. How can we all actively impact the success of today's girls for tomorrow's future? Panelists include: NYS Senator Betty Little; Kelly Lynch from WGY Radio 810/103.1; Kristi Gustafson Barlette from The Times Union; Sara Brenner,MD/MPH from UAlbany College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering; and Moderator Megan Baker of Baker Public Relations. The luncheon event and program takes place on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 11:30am-1:00pm at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany. Tickets are $30 for girls through age 18; $35 for adults ages 19 and up – attendees do not need to be part of the Girl Scout family. Tickets may be purchased online or via phone at 518-348-1413 x402. Deadline for registration is Monday, March 4, 2013. The event will also include a display of rarely seen Girl Scout memorabilia, most of which is circa 1940 to 1990. This exhibit is free of charge and runs from 10am to 2pm.

ToGetHerThere, launched by Girl Scouts in 2012, is the largest, boldest, multi-year advocacy effort that issues a unifying call to action to address the critical role today's girls will play as tomorrow's leaders. It sets forth a resolution to foster supportive environments and relationships that will help girls achieve their full leadership potential. When girls succeed, so does society. Together we can get her there.
