Burlington Education Association recommends candidates for school board election

DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2017) (readMedia)-- The Burlington Education Association (BEA) recommends Darven Kendell (Incumbent), Dean Vickstrom (Incumbent) and Tom Courtney (Write-in candidate) for the Burlington School Board election on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

"The Burlington Education Association's recommendation comes after much discussion and deliberation by association leaders and an overwhelming vote by the BEA membership, especially in support of write-in candidate Tom Courtney," said Andy Isaacson, UniServ Director for the Iowa State Education Association (ISEA). "The consensus is that Darven Kendell, Dean Vickstrom and Tom Courtney will serve students, teachers and citizens of the Burlington Community School District well. They have the beliefs and philosophy to take Burlington Schools to the next level as members of the Board of Education," said Isaacson.

The BEA is the exclusive bargaining representative for education professionals in the Burlington Community School District. The BEA is affiliated with the Iowa State Education Association (ISEA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
