CUNA Appoints Mark S. Brantley Esq. of MCU to Volunteer Committee

ALBANY, NY (04/19/2013)(readMedia)-- Mark S. Brantley Esq., chairman of Municipal Credit Union (MCU) in New York City, was appointed to the Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) Volunteer Leadership Committee on April 15.

CUNA's Volunteer Leadership Committee assists in the development of CUNA's strategy for increasing involvement and supporting credit union volunteers. The committee also serves as a strategic leadership resource for CUNA, providing staff with advice and guidance for enhancing volunteer-centered initiatives.

As a committee member, Brantley's key responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing and assisting in the development of education/training solutions for volunteers;

• Identifying strategies and tools for dealing with the issue of succession planning among volunteers;

• Identifying mechanisms for enhancing volunteer grassroots mobilization and political involvement.

"Mark's experience and skills will without a doubt make him a great addition to CUNA's Volunteer Leadership Committee," said William Mellin, President/CEO of the Credit Union Association of New York. "This is such an important committee and we at the Association look forward to seeing Mark's contributions."

Brantley was elected to MCU's Board of Directors in 2005 where he served as treasurer, chairman of the budget sub-committee, and 1st vice chair. Brantley is currently the Administrator of the Office of the County Clerk in New York County, his career in the Unified Court System of New York spans a period of more than 25 years. He also sits on the board of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) as secretary and advocacy chair.

Brantley is a member of the New York Bar and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts, and the United States Supreme Court. He holds a juris doctorate from New York Law School and a bachelor's degree from the City College of New York.
