CLEARWATER, FL (04/29/2013)(readMedia)-- Senior Renee Crane was awarded the Silver ROTC medal from the Clearwater chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in a ceremony held on the campus of Clearwater Christian College on April 22, 2013. Since 1933, the SAR has awarded this medal to students enrolled in a college or university ROTC unit.

Recipients are selected by the college administration and ROTC officers and must display a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and general excellence. The award was presented to Cadet Crane by Dr. Robert Cundiff, professor of communications at Clearwater Christian College and 2nd Vice President of the Clearwater chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Crane is majoring in Communications and a four year cadet in the CCC Air Force ROTC program conducted through a joint agreement between the College, the United States Air Force, and the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Crane is expected to graduate with the class of 2013 in ceremonies scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2013, and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF soon thereafter. Crane is a graduate of Capac Senior High School in Capac, MI, and the daughter of James and Rhonda Crane, also of Capac, MI.
