In a valiant effort and highly competitive match played on a wet Saturday afternoon, the Lady Cougars soccer team was unable to repeat as National Champions. Although the Cougars defeated Bob Jones University 2-1 in the South Regional finals and dominated the game on possession, they were unable to score on the Bruin's all-tournament goalie. BJU (selected as the at-large team) was able to score a counter-attack goal in the 66th minute when a ball skipped by the last defender and found the feet of the BJU striker. Although goalie Charity Nelson made the initial save, the ball bounced back to the same striker who scored the winning goal. Nelson had not given up a goal in the tournament and make 3 saves for the match. The Cougars finished another highly successful season with the 2nd place finish at the National Tournament, #2 National NCCAA II Ranking, and a 12-7-2 record.
