Capital Region "Mad Men" to Discuss Inside Stories from One of Marketing's Greatest Eras

... and How to Recharge Marketing Efforts Today

ALBANY, NY (10/19/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York Capital Region Chapter of the American Marketing Association (NYCRAMA) is pleased to present speakers Herman Schnurr and Mason Tolman, who will lead the November breakfast roundtable titled "40 Years of Madness: Marketing Lessons from the Mad Men Era and Beyond" on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at The Desmond on Albany Shaker Road in Albany.

"House" may not always be medically accurate. "Law & Order" misses a legal point now and then. But what about "Mad Men"? Was advertising in the Golden Age really like that?

Better ask someone who lived it.

Two veterans of global New York agencies, Herman Schnurr and Mason Tolman, will tell inside stories from one of marketing's greatest eras -- and the campaigns that made it so legendary. Far beyond the personalities and the ideas, however, they'll also share their penetrating insights on the lessons from that era and how these insights can recharge marketing efforts today.

After working at Ogilvy & Mather in New York City, Herman Schnurr founded Madison North, an agency that transformed the Capital Region advertising scene. As principal of Schnurr & Jackson, Schnurr collaborated with his team to win such national accounts as Comedy Central and A&E. Currently he works as an independent writer/creative director and marketing consultant, producing campaigns for Old Brick Furniture and others.

As senior vice president with Young & Rubicam, Mason Tolman led a worldwide interdisciplinary team on new tobacco brand development and test marketing for Philip Morris. His Y&R work supported a wide range of household-name brands, from KFC to Dr. Pepper to Met Life. After stints at Sawchuk, Brown Associates, Zone 5 and The Star Group, Tolman is now president and CEO of the Tolman Company, a marketing and advertising agency. He is the winner of two gold Effie awards.

Admission is $15 for AMA members and students and $20 for non-members. Payment is expected in cash or check at the door. Coffee and baked goods provided. Reserve your place online at www.nymarketing.org. Space is limited.
