Capital Region McDonald's Targets Hiring 400 New Employees

National Hiring Day April 19th

GLENMONT, NY (04/15/2011)(readMedia)-- On Tuesday, April 19, 2011, the 70 McDonald's restaurants in the Capital Region will join the corporation's national effort to fill 50,000 openings at its restaurants nationwide. Local government officials are expected to attend the morning events scheduled in special Hub restaurants in Watervliet, Five Corners/Rotterdam and Exit 18 in Queensbury. All 70 restaurants in the Capital Region will be participating in National Hiring Day, with the goal of hiring 400 new employees throughout the region over the next few months.

Recent Bureau of Labor Statistics reports indicate that the Capital Region suffered the fourth largest employment loss in the nation in 2010. According to Renee Reardon, President of the Capital Region Owner/Operator Co-op, "It's no secret that our region has suffered greatly from job losses. We're excited about creating new jobs in our communities, and have already received a significant number of job applications in our restaurants since National Hiring Day was announced last week. Our restaurants have always been focused on training our workforce and instilling life-long business and customer service skills. We want our employees to succeed!"

During the day, restaurant managers will be meeting job applicants, interviewing them and, most importantly, presenting information about the powerful training and career opportunities available at McDonald's. At the three Hub restaurants, local officials will join McDonald's regional representatives, meeting current employees, some of whom began their careers as crews and are now managers, supervisors and, in some cases, owners of their restaurants.

"Our restaurant employees are the foundation of our business. They are the men and women who interact with our customers every day, enhance the McDonald's experience, and continue to help make our business strong," said Jan Fields, President, McDonald's USA. "Our national hiring event is an opportunity to invite more people across the country to join our team, and learn that a McJob is one with career growth and endless possibilities."

Applicants can come to any McDonald's restaurant during the day from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. Employment applications are also available on line at www.mcnewyork.com.
