Murphy to Serve on Environment and Energy Committee
ALBANY, NY (11/16/2010)(readMedia)-- The Alliance for Clean Energy New York (ACE NY) announced today that Executive Director Carol E. Murphy has been selected by Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo to serve on his Environment and Energy and Recreation transition committee. Ms. Murphy will be advising Mr. Cuomo and his aides as they recruit, review and recommend candidates to fill leadership positions in the energy and environmental arenas.
"I am honored to have been selected by Governor-elect Cuomo to serve on the transition team and grateful for this opportunity to represent New York's clean energy community and its environmental supporters," said Ms. Murphy. "While addressing the state's fiscal situation will be a main focus initially, we know that Andrew Cuomo is committed to continuing the development of a sustainable energy infrastructure and New York's renewable energy and efficiency industry represents major opportunities for both in-state economic development and environmental preservation."
"We look forward to assisting the new administration as they assemble the executive team who will work in support of the state's renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change goals. Building on the energy and environmental proposals set forth in Governor-elect Cuomo's campaign platform, the Empire State can and will become a national leader in the new green economy," continued Ms. Murphy.
Ms. Murphy previously served on the energy transition team of former Governor Eliot Spitzer. She currently represents ACE NY on the Integration Advisory Panel of Governor David Paterson's Climate Action Council, and was also a member of Governor Paterson's Renewable Energy Task Force.
ACE NY Board Members Marcia Bystryn, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, Adrienne Esposito, Executive Director of Citizens Campaign for the Environment, and Ashok Gupta of the Air and Energy Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, were also invited to serve on the transition committee.
