ALBANY, NY (03/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Albany, NY-Goldstein Buick GMC, 1671 Central Avenue in Albany, will host a Mohawk Hudson Humane Society adoption clinic on St. Patrick's Day, Saturday, March 17 from 10AM to 2PM. The Society will have a variety of cats and dogs available at the clinic. The Albany Devils' mascot, Devil Dawg, will make a special appearance at the event to showcase the upcoming "Puck & Paws" night on March 31 when dogs can join their owners at the hockey game.
Every cat and dog available for adoption has been spayed or neutered, de-wormed and treated with flea and tick preventative and has received age-appropriate distemper and rabies vaccinations. Dogs have been tested for heartworm and cats for feline leukemia. All animals go home with 30 days of pet insurance and a free bag of Hill's Science Diet pet food.
The Goldstein Family Auto Group has also expanded the organizations partnership with MHHS's "Empties for Animals" to an annual fundraiser. Bring in cans and bottles all year long to any of their four dealerships and they will deliver them to the shelter for processing and redemption. The end result is helping to care for and save thousands of animals who pass throught the portals of The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. They encourage people to gather and drop off any and all clean empties after the parade on Saturday as well.
"There has been an incredible community outpouring over our partnership with Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, from hosting the pet adoption clinics to our yearlong effort to collect recyclable cans and bottles in all four of our dealerships," said Stefanie Goldstein of the Goldstein Family Auto Group. "We are fielding phone calls every day, going to houses and designated locations to collect hundreds of bottles and cans and bringing them to the shelter each week. It's unbelievable what a difference saving a can or bottle can make," she added.
Executive Director Brad Shear commented, "We are delighted to have the Goldstein Family Auto Group as partners and St. Patrick's Day is a perfect time to reinforce our 'Empties for Animals' partnership. Since this partnership began at the first of the year, our 'Empties for Animals' income is up over 40%. People can drop off their recyclables all year at any Goldstein location or at the Humane Society. The best part is because of how we sort, we receive 8 cents for every can and bottle we recycle. Those extra 3 cents add up for our animals."
