BURLINGTON, VT (11/30/2017) Champlain College Online, designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security, has announced a new chair of cybersecurity programs. Kathleen Hyde, MCIS, MBA, will help equip Champlain's adult students with the business and technical skills to solve some of the nation's most complex information security challenges.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kathleen as chair of cybersecurity programs, reflecting our institution's commitment to hiring administrators and educators who are practitioners in their fields and adept at helping students succeed," said Dr. Mika Nash, Academic Dean of Continuing Professional Studies at Champlain College Online. "Every decision we make is about improving the academic experience for adult learners, so we place great weight on the people who lead and educate our students."
As program director, Hyde will maintain the cybersecurity and digital forensic programs' competitive and relevant edge, promote the growth of the nation's cybersecurity workforce and share her passion for lifelong learning by teaching several online classes. For more than 20 years, she has provided consulting services in cybersecurity, data recovery, business continuity and digital forensics to government, retail, finance, professional and residential customers. Hyde has also served as an instructor for Champlain's cybersecurity program and a subject-matter expert for course development for the past three years. Her areas of expertise and interest include insider threat detection, emerging threats and defenses, digital privacy and surveillance, and cybersecurity for educators.
"Cybersecurity challenges impact organizations' business operations on a daily basis, and both industry and government struggle with the cybersecurity-talent deficit," said Hyde.
