Champlain College Workforce Development Program Teaches New Managers Skills

Fall Management Excellence Series Begins Sept. 11

BURLINGTON, VT (08/14/2009)(readMedia)-- The Champlain College Workforce Development Center will offer its successful Management Excellence Seminar Series this fall, beginning on Sept. 11.

According to Melissa Hersh, director of the program, "The fall series is filled with all the topics previous students have praised and some exciting new additions!" The Management Excellence Seminar Series delivers a set of skills that provide the support all managers need to be successful, Hersh said. The format is interactive and spread over a four-week period so participants can integrate sessions into their schedules without having to be away from the workplace for an extended period of time.

The integration of management concepts with real workplace scenarios ensures an immediate impact.Topics include:

  • Explore management styles and how they apply to high performing teams
  • Find, hire and keep great employees
  • Resolve workplace conflicts
  • Coach and motivate for optimal performance
  • Understand the legalities of the employer-employee relationship
  • Make good decisions
  • Create budgets and allocate financial assets

"Even experienced managers have found this series to be extremely useful," Hersh noted. The seminar series is delivered by highly qualified practitioner faculty from Champlain College' Continuing Professional Studies and Business Divisions including an attorney specializing in employment law.Seminars are scheduled for three consecutive Fridays, Sept. 11, 18, 25 and Thursday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 2.

"The interactive format and integration of management concepts with real workplace scenarios will have an immediate impact," Hersh said.

The series will take place at the Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington.
