Chapin Native enlists in Illinois Air National Guard

SPRINGFIELD, IL (04/13/2018) (readMedia)-- Springfield, Ill. – Airman 1st Class Jonah Wayland, of Chapin, Illinois, was sworn into the Illinois Air National Guard April 9, at the 183rd Wing, in Springfield, Illinois.

Wayland enlisted as a 3DX17, Cable and Antenna Systems Specialist, and is assigned to the Student Flight Program in Springfield, Illinois.

Upon completion of his initial training, Wayland will be assigned to the 217th Engineering Installation Squadron.

Wayland is a 2012 graduate of Triopia High School, in Concord, Illinois.

After successfully completing his training, Wyland will be eligible for the Illinois National Guard Grant, which pays 100 percent of college tuition while he works as a full-time student and a part-time Airman. He will also be eligible for the Select Reserve G.I. Bill and federal tuition assistance.
