DES MOINES, IA (06/30/2010)(readMedia)-- Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) has been chosen as the Charity of Choice for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association's National Convention, and will receive an estimated donation of $5,000-funds raised during the event.

Every year the convention is held at a different location. This year's event is being held June 30-July 3 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. To kick off the convention, riders are invited to attend an open house held by the nonprofit they have deemed the Charity of Choice. In addition to the monetary donation, riders provide items such as toiletries, cleaning and household items.

"We chose Children & Families of Iowa as our Charity of Choice because we support their mission and work. They help thousands of Iowa families each year and have changed many lives for the better through their several programs," says Kevin Thomas, Event Manager for KKT Event Management, LLC.

CFI hosted an open house for riders at the Child Development Center on Tuesday, June 29 from 4:30-6 p.m. Riders biked to the Center and had an opportunity to tour the facility. Food, beverages and games were available for bikers and the families who receive services at the Child Development Center.

In addition, The J & M Corporation is planning a raffle during the kick-off event of the convention. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Children & Families of Iowa.

"This is a great opportunity for CFI and we are thrilled to have been the chosen charity this year," says Gloria Gray, Executive Director. "Our Child Development Center will really benefit from the donations and we know the families we serve are thankful for the association's generosity."
