Children’s Healthy Smiles Are Focus Of Feb. 1 Dental Event

BROOKLYN, NY (01/28/2008)(readMedia)-- Brooklyn dentists observing Give Kids A Smile Day will join the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Future team and provide free oral health screenings and education to more than 300 children at the Beginning With Children Charter School in Brooklyn on Friday, February 1. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is part of a national effort supported by the American Dental Association, its member dentists and corporate sponsors including Colgate, to help raise awareness of the dental care needs of underserved children.

The event will be held in the school library which will be transformed into dental operatories, and popular Colgate mascots Dr. Rabbit and Mrs. Brushwell will be on hand to visit and delight children. Volunteer dentists from the Second District Dental Society, a constituent of the American Dental Association, will volunteer for the program.

Additional events in Brooklyn include:

Friday, February 1: Free dental screenings for children through age 16 at the New York Methodist Hospital Division of Dental Medicine from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. located at 506 Sixth Street. Enter at the Kirkwood Pavilion entrance on the first floor.

Sunday, February 3: Dental Health Day at the Brooklyn Public Library (Central Branch at Grand Army Plaza) will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and will feature a trade in a toothbrush campaign for children under 12, “Dr. Molar’s” magic show and oral care and nutrition education.
