Christine Caven of Boise to perform in Olivet's 101st Commencement Concert

BOURBONNAIS, IL (04/24/2014)(readMedia)-- Christine Caven of Boise will perform as a featured soloist in Olivet Nazarene University's 101st Commencement Concert on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 7 p.m., at Kresge Auditorium in Larsen Fine Arts Center on Olivet's campus.

Nearly 40 Olivet students auditioned to perform as soloists. For this year's concert, the music faculty selected Caven based on her musical skills and accomplishments. A soprano, she will perform Donizetti's Regnava nel silenzio (from Lucia di Lammermoor) and Mozart's Susanna or via sortite (from Le nozze di Figaro).

The concert includes a varied classical music program accompanied by the University Orchestra with Dr. Neal Woodruff conducting.

"This year's program displays a wide variety of styles and moods," Dr. Woodruff said. "Selections include some of the time-honored standards of Western art music, as well as pieces by composers within the past decade."
