ALBANY, NY (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Linda MacFarlane, Clifton Park resident and CEO of Columbia-Greene Federal Credit Union, was named the 2012 Outstanding Professional by the Credit Union Association of New York at their 2012 Annual Meeting and Convention held recently at The Sagamore Resort on Lake George.
Outstanding Professional honors are awarded to individuals whose commitment, hard work and achievements enhance their credit union and/or the entire New York State credit union movement.
"Linda's contributions to Columbia-Greene, the community it serves, and the credit union movement on the state level are exemplary and have distinguished her as an Outstanding Professional," said the Association's President/CEO William J. Mellin.
Linda MacFarlane has served as CEO of Columbia-Greene FCU since 2009, when she was selected by the credit union's board of directors to lead a regeneration effort for the organization. Prior to her hiring, the credit union faced a period of declining financial results and operational challenges.
Things quickly changed with the arrival of MacFarlane, a seasoned financial services professional with an extensive training background involving organizations such as Toastmasters International, the Disney Institute Business Program and Dale Carnegie Training. Through staff reorganization efforts and an unwavering commitment to communication, MacFarlane empowered employees and successfully returned the credit union to profitability.
The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 95 years. New York credit unions have assets of more than $57 billion and serve 4.6 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
