Columbus Lung Walks Helps American Lung Association Fight For Air

Lung Walk is June 12 at Easton

COLUMBUS OH (04/30/2010)(readMedia)-- June will soon be here and with it comes the American Lung Association in Ohio's annual Lung Walk on June 12 at Easton Town Center, starting at the Town Square Fountain. Check-in opens at 8 am and the walk is at 9 am.

Channel 10's Andrea Cambern will emcee the event, which is being held courtesy of Gold Sponsor Fifth Third Bank and Silver Sponsor Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The event, formerly known as the Asthma Walk, consists of a non-competitive 5K route.

Proceeds from the Lung Walk go to lung health programs, services and research.

Local band Brothers by Law will provide entertainment while participants enjoy the many event activities, including free lung function test, health education displays and exhibits, face painting, refreshments and chair massages.

For those unable to actually participate in the walk portion of the event, there is also an option to be a virtual walker. Regardless of the walker's participation type, there is a variety of fundraising incentives available to reward the walker's efforts.

"Helping Others Breathe" event signs are available for purchase at $15 each. The signs will be placed along the walk route and are personalized to allow you to honor a loved one struggling with lung disease, remember someone who has lost the fight against lung disease, celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, or show recognition for an extraordinary person in your life. Visit www.ohiolung.org to purchase a sign.

Members of the community are invited to register a team and/or themselves at www.midlandlung.org/walk. For more information, call 800-LUNG-USA or e-mail Tara Anderson at tanderson@ohiolung.org.
