Columbus is Fighting For Air

NORWALK, OH (04/28/2011)(readMedia)-- The 2011 Fight For Air Walk benefitting the work of the American Lung Association in Ohio is fast approaching. On Saturday, June 4th hundreds of people from Central Ohio will be gathering at Easton Town Center to walk and raise awareness and funds to support local lung disease programs, research and advocacy.
There is no registration fee for the event, but participants are encouraged to sign-up in advance and to help raise funds to support the American Lung Association in Ohio's efforts. Participants who raise at least $100 in donations will receive an official 2011 Columbus Fight For Air Walk t-shirt.
The 5K walk will start at Easton Town Center's Town Square Fountain at 160 Easton Town Center, Columbus. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk starts at 9:00 a.m. A special walk warm-up will start at 8:45 am with members of the Columbus Crewzers dance and cheerleading team.
This is a family-friendly event and will include children's activities, music, entertainment, and a walker reception.
Special guest for the event will be none other than Columbus 10TV weekend meteorologist, AJ Smith.
This year's walk is sponsored by Nationwide Children's Hospital, Fifth Third Bank, Mid-Ohio Region Porsche Club of America, Inc., Genentech, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Complete Healthcare for Women, Novartis and Easton Town Center.
For those unable to actually participate in the walk portion of the event, there is also an option to be a "virtual walker." Regardless of the walker's participation type, there is a variety of fundraising incentives available to reward the walker's efforts.
