Commander of 58th Special Operations Wing is Keynote Speaker at UNM-Valencia's 23rd Annual MLK Day Celebration

LOS LUNAS, NM (01/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Col. James L. Cardoso, commander of the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base, will be the keynote speaker at the 23rd annual salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m., on the UNM-Valencia Campus.

This celebration honors the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with performances by local youth groups, choir ensembles, as well as a keynote address by Col. Cardoso. The celebration will be held in the UNM-Valencia Campus Student-Community Center. This year's event at the campus is being held on the Saturday preceding the national MLK Holiday on Jan. 16th, and is the first event scheduled in the UNM-Valencia Spring 2012 Cultural Enrichment Series.

Admission is free to this event and refreshments are served during a reception following the ceremony. This event is sponsored by Rio Abajo Lodge #17, the Mt. Everest Lodge #1, the Vision Lodge #18 and the UNM-Valencia Campus Community Education Services Program.

The Student-Community Center is located on the south side of the campus. As you enter the campus, turn left and follow the drive until it ends in the south parking lot.
