WASHINGTON, DC (12/12/2014)(readMedia)-- The District of Columbia National Guard's 257th Army Band will perform a free holiday concert at 7 pm, Monday, Dec. 15, at the Holy Comforter-Saint Cyprian Roman Catholic Church, 1357 East Capitol St., SE, Washington, D.C. 20003.

The 257th Army Band's proud lineage dates back to the Corcoran Cadets of the 1880s, the DC militia that inspired famed composer John Philip Sousa to pen a march in thier name. Nicknamed "The Band of the Nation's Capital," the ensemble provides musical entertainment for the DC National Guard and represents both the National Guard and its home city throughout the world.

The D.C. National Guard, made up of about 2,500 members, serves their local community and America. They are a ready, trained and equipped military organization. The D.C. National Guard is the first military responder in the nation's capital to support and defend the District of Columbia, its citizens and the nation.
