Dancing with the Stars to Benefit Major Capital Region Non-Profits
Celebrity dancers to compete for charity at Albany-Tula Alliance gala
GLENMONT, NY (04/24/2008)(readMedia)-- On May 3, 2008, a Champagne and Dessert Gala will take place at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs with the unique feature of raising funds for multiple Capital Region organizations. Festivities, which will begin at 8:00 pm will be hosted by Mistress of Ceremonies Liz Bishop, and will include a champagne and dessert buffet, the celebrity dance competition, a special auction , a dance performance by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Latham, NY and guest dancing to the music of the Harmony Band until l 1:00 am.
Sponsored by the Albany-Tula Alliance, the event, "Shall We Dance?" will feature a competition among well-known Capital Region "celebrity" dancers. Proceeds from the competition will be donated to six charities chosen by the dancers and to the Albany-Tula Alliance.
"Celebrity" dancers, who will be performing with professional dancers from the Fred Astaire Dance Studio, will include: E. Stewart Jones (dancing with his wife Kimberly), Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, Lee McElroy, David Alan Miller, Alissa Quinn and Marcia White. Guests will vote on their performance and all dancers will share the donations to the competition.
This is a true regional event, with six different non-profit organizations benefiting, including: Gilda's Club, Capital Repertory Theatre, Bethlehem YMCA, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Zoller Elementary School's inner city dance program., as well as the Albany-Tula Alliance.
