David M. Stackrow, CPA, Elected to the Board of the Challenger Learning Center for Tech Valley

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (03/09/2009)(readMedia)-- Stackrow is a shareholder, Vice President and Treasurer of Scott, Stackrow & Co., CPAs, a regional accounting firm specializing in servicing the accounting and income tax needs of individuals and closely held businesses.

Stackrow is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Active in the community, he is Board Chairman of the Capital District Transportation Authority, and Board Chairman of LaSalle Institute of Troy.

Stackrow is the Board Vice Chairman of the City of Troy Industrial Development Authority, and Director of The Society of the Friends of St. Patrick. A Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #267, he is also a member of the University Club of Albany. A resident of Poestenkill, Stackrow earned his bachelor of Business Administration from Siena College in 1986.

The Challenger Learning Center for Tech Valley will be a catalyst for career pathways in science, math and engineering for middle-school students to help develop the future work force of New York State's Tech Valley. The Center, which will be based in the Schenectady Museum of Science and Technology, will initially serve 10,000 middle-school students from 93 school districts in the 19-county Capital Region, and 35,000 students from 77 districts in the surrounding counties.

The students will learn science curriculum, problem-solving and teamwork as they run and participate in more than 300 simulated space missions. The simulator is patterned after NASA's Mission Control operation in Houston and the interior of a Space Station.

The Challenger Learning Center is one of a network of similar Space Education Centers throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
