Davin Dickerson Named Iowan Of The Day

NEOLA, IA (07/31/2008)(readMedia)-- The Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products are honored to name Davin Dickerson as an Iowan of the Day for the 2008 Iowa State Fair.
Davin is widely recognized as one of the finest medical professionals in the Council Bluffs/Omaha region. Working as a senior faculty psychiatric nurse, Davin has been a positive force in a realm often filled with tragedy and suffering. He has also been praised as a tremendous and inspirational mentor to both medical and nursing students. On top of his multiple jobs, Davin is a father of seven, and is known to very involved with his family. Davin, along with his wife Denise, founded the Tri-Center Optimist Club, which has had a significant impact on the community. He has also been in charge of organizing youth basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball leagues for several years. These leagues have been recognized as some of the finest in the area, due to Davin's organizational skills, and his willingness to put forth an extra effort.
Davin's day of honor at the Iowa State Fair will be Sunday, August 10. Davin will receive a night's stay at the Des Moines Downtown Marriott, VIP Parking at the Fair, special use of the Iowan of the Day golf cart, $200 in cash, tickets to the Foreigner concert at the Grandstand, and subscriptions to Iowan and Iowa Gardening magazines. Davin will also be part of a special presentation on the Anne & Bill Riley Stage at 2:15 p.m. on August 10.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation began the Iowan of the Day award in 1997 to honor those Iowans who've truly made a difference for those around them. The Foundation reviews over 250 nominations each year, and selects those that show examples of integrity, decency, hard work, and dedication to community improvement.
The Blue Ribbon Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Since its inception in 1993, the Foundation has generated over $65 million for renovations and improvements to the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
