DES MOINES, IA (07/30/2025) (readMedia)-- If you hear the sound of chainsaws at the 2025 Iowa State Fair, you're likely listening to Gary Keenan, T.J. Jenkins, and Clint Henik carving their crowd-favorite woodcarvings at Expo Hill. Fairgoers have the unique ability to bring these masterpieces home by participating in the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation's 2025 Woodcarvers' Auction. The auction will be a hybrid event offering both in-person and online bidding.
The in-person portion of the auction will take place at 3:30 PM on Sunday, August 17, at the Penningroth Media Center in the John and Emily Putney Family Cattle Barn. A selection of the carvings will be available for online bidding starting Saturday, August 16, at 10 AM until Sunday, August 17, at 5:30 PM. Online items will be available for preview beginning Friday, August 15, at 10 AM.
Fairgoers are invited to watch the wooden masterpieces emerge as Keenan, Jenkins and Henik carve four times each day of the Fair, August 7-17, at 10 AM, 12 PM, 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM on Expo Hill. Past carvings include wildlife animals, sports team logos and more. Prepare to be amazed when you see these skilled woodcarvers in action!
The Woodcarvers' Auction is one initiative of many that the Blue Ribbon Foundation coordinates to raise funds for the improvement of the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds. In addition to attending special events such as the Woodcarvers' Auction, Fair fans can support Iowa's largest event by becoming involved in one of the Foundation's giving or membership programs.
